Background
Our client’s jewellery store needed a digital replacement for manual record-keeping that was slow and easy to get wrong. Every transaction involves working out a sale price, a buyback price, and a margin from several variables. weight, discount, and a gold price that moves constantly.
What was needed was a jewellery calculator dashboard that staff could use without any technical background, but powerful enough to produce real-time business insight.
The challenge
- Complex calculations, fast. sale price, buyback, and profit across varying discounts and weights
- Hundreds of SKUs. a clean CRUD system that could also import from Excel
- Real-time business decisions. the owner needed global discount simulation for margin analysis
- Ease of use. non-technical staff had to operate it without lengthy training
What we built
The jewellery calculator (core feature)
- Autocomplete search. find an item by name or code straight from a dropdown
- Real-time calculation. instant buyback price and profit at 18%, 19%, and 20% discount
- Multiple weights. standard gram weights (0.3, 0.4) plus custom input during negotiation
Profit analysis
- Global discount simulation. change the discount percentage and see its effect on every item’s margin at once
- Financial summary. summary cards for total capital, estimated profit, and average margin
- Per-item detail table. sale price, buyback price, and profit per SKU in one view
Inventory database management
- Full CRUD. add, edit, and delete items with confirmation modals so nothing goes by mis-click
- Excel import/export. export to `JewelryYaya_Database.xlsx` and bulk import to load many records at once
- Pagination. 20 items per page, so the table stays readable at any size
A polished experience
- Interactive toast notifications for every action (save, delete, import, error)
- Input validation on both the front and back end to keep bad data out of the database
